History
Orange County Jail Ministry was founded in 1980 for the purpose of bringing inmates to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, Last year over 2,000 inmates received the gift of salvation, and throughout their stay, the ministry continues to nurture them in the principles of Christian living.
With funding from private donations only, the ministry has five chaplains, six assistant chaplains, and one office manager while providing Bibles, study materials and many reading glasses. More than 100 volunteers minister to the inmates and the governing board is comprised of volunteers from many denominations. The ministry is nonsectarian in recognition of the inmates’ many religious affiliations.
